We’re only a few days away from launch and I’m happy to have already completed two Startup Stay travel experiences: the first one in Riga, Latvia and now, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
We have also manually connected (since the platform is not live yet) a couple of entrepreneurs to stay with startups in San Francisco and Belfast so they could get a taste of the experience before launch.
I’m originally from Argentina, so I recently went there just a few days to visit my family and take care of personal stuff. However, I was located an hour and a half away from the city centre. I reached out to a few startups and finally, Federico Vega from Mercado Transporte, very kindly offered to host me for two nights to avoid the long journeys. My idea was to learn more about the startup scene, promote Startup Stay and meet local entrepreneurs and investors.
Federico lives in an 11th-floor-apartment with his girlfriend, Diana Sanchez from Madrid (co-founder of Mercado Transporte). The view of the city was outstanding!
Their startup was accepted in the Startup Chile programme last year so they had lived over 7 months in Santiago and had great insights to share about it. Later on, they joined tech accelerator NXTP Labs in Buenos Aires (Palermo Soho), in exchange for funding and a 5% equity stake.
Federico invited me to work over at NXTP Labs for three days so I could get stuff done and also meet other startups. That was very helpful and contributed to a richer experience. I also attended a few free talks and got to meet the owner and well known local entrepreneur, Ariel Arrieta.
Fede and Diana were fantastic hosts. We had loads to chat about. We hung out and also worked together.
We ate out the first night (great local pizza), but stayed home the second one. I shared my culinary skills and made a tasty cheese-butternut squash tart!
