Startup Stay Experience: From Krakow To San Francisco

Every now and then we get emails from Startup Stay entrepreneurs sharing their great experiences.

It’s a nice opportunity for us to share this with other members through our blog and also with other entrepreneurs that haven’t joined Startup Stay yet :-)

Host entrepreneur

Philip Faulconer, based in San Francisco, is the President of Propeller Development, Inc: a cloud development company specializing in salesforce.com development and AWS.

Philip said: “Since Startup Stay is a new service, I wasn’t sure what to expect in hosting other than the opportunity to connect with someone who’s coming to San Francisco and interested in entrepreneurship. My company is focused on Amazon Web Services and on Salesforce.com consulting here in San Francisco, but we are also launching several new products so we have a startup mentality. San Francisco is a hotbed of innovation so it’s not hard to meet a lot of great people doing interesting startups, but the type of connection you have through hosting is different from meeting for coffee or at a meetup.

I really enjoyed the opportunity to have several extended conversations about our business, share advice, but importantly – to learn about another person’s life experiences in a meaningful way. We shared more than business talk, we also got into family, culture, music, food and some of the great things about our lives.

I think Startup Stay is a great platform for people to connect with the shared value of entrepreneurship as a foundation for the connection.

Guest entrepreneur

Pawel Plaszczak, based in Krakow, Poland, is the CEO of GridwiseTech, an Oracle partner from Poland providing expert database services. Pawel comes regularly to the annual Oracle Open World show to meet his US partners.

Pawel said:Using the Startup Stay service was a great way to immerse in the San Francisco entrepreneurial

environment. Meeting a business partner in a crowded conference venue gives each other a one-hour briefing, which typically does not allow to go too deep in the relationship. However, staying with another entrepreneur and sharing meals with him or her is a completely different and much deeper experience, both business-wise and cultural. And it doesn’t matter if you’re to do business together or not. To me, it’s first of all a learning experience.”

“I often invite business partners to my own home, and therefore was excited to discover the Startup Stay service. On my first Startup Stay trip I met Philip and learned about his consulting practice (but also about the local bars & cafes!) which was invaluable and I’ll definitely log in to Startup Stay at my next business trip!”
